Today Is...

National Freedom Day!

News of the Day:

+ Gabrielle Union is gearing up to launch her very own natural haircare line. After having a difficult time managing her hair when growing up, she was inspired to start a line of her very own. "I just look at it as each person has their own hair journey, and they're all amazing, valid, worthwhile, and beautiful, no matter what," she told WWD. Flawless by Gabrielle Union is set to launch on March 1, and will hit Ulta stores in mid-April.

+ Sampha has released visuals for "(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano" with a virtual reality collaboration with Youtube. The song is a tribute to the piano that Sampha grew up playing and stars activist/model Adwoa Aboah. Check it out, below.

+ STATE Bags, the do-good backpack line that's teamed up with Queen Bey and American Eagle in the past, now presents a new initiative. The brand, which is known for it's #GiveBackPack campaign that grants American children with fully stocked backpacks through its bag drop, is gearing up for a new LGBTQ initiative in association with its growing project "What Do We Tell The Kids?" The company is taking to social media to shed light on injustice and discrimination and its effect on kids. People in the LGBTQ community whose personal stories carry real weight will be featured, including icons like SNL writer Chris Kelly to Vanity Fair editor Michael Carl. Check out details, here.

+ Washington, D.C based artist Nick Hakim just announced some major news. Not only did he announce that his upcoming album, Green Twins, launches March 19, but also he released the first single, "Bet She Looks Like You." Hakim will be kicking off a North American and European tour starting Valentine's Day, but those London tickets have already been sold out (and we're not surprised). Check out the single, below.

+ Hailee Steinfeld is the star of a shiny, new campaign. The singer-actress is the new face of REEF's Escape collection, for the "rebellious, yet refined woman." Check out our girl rocking some of the latest designs, below.
